Who we are and What we doA Practice of
Consulting Civil and Structural Engineers based in Glasgow UK, Our office is located in the Port Dundas area to the north of Glasgow city centre with easy and convenient links to the M8 Motorway. There is ample parking adjacent to the office, yet Glasgow city centre is only a short 10 minute walk away. For directions to the office click here A.J. Balfour & Associates is staffed by an experienced and enthusiastic team headed by a professionally qualified Chartered Engineer together with a Senior Incorporated Engineer, a Technician Engineer, and administration staff, with collectively over 70 years experience in the housing and industrial sectors. Furthermore, depending upon work load, we can rely on the services of external Consultants and other partners. It is the policy of the Practice to expand staffing to levels commensurate with our work load. The Practice use the latest networked computers and software to enhance our design, drafting and word processing skills. Currently we operate the latest editions of
Staff awareness of advances and developments in Innovation, Safety, Technology, Legislation, etc, is considered essential to maintain our level of knowledge and client confidence in the service which is being provided. Consequently our staff attend appropriate training seminars to maintain their Continued Professional Development Presently training covers a wide variety of topics, including, Sustainability, Value, Partnering, Geotechnical, Structural Engineering, Health & Safety, Construction Law and Information Technology, and other related subjects to enable the Principal and staff to satisfy CPD (Continuous Professional Development ). CONSTRUCTION (DESIGN and MANAGEMENT) REGULATIONS (CDM) The CDM Regulations imposes additional responsibilities on the client, designer and contractor with regard to Health & Safety. A J Balfour Associates are fully aware of their responsibilities as designers and ensure that Health and Safety is given proper consideration from the outset of a project. Our staff are familiar with the risk assessment procedures and regard safety as paramount. PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY INSURANCE A.J. Balfour and Associates has Professional Indemnity Insurance covering claims to a limit of £5,000,000 for each and every incident arranged through Aon Risk Services Ltd, Professions Group, Insurance Brokers. A.J. Balfour and Associates have Employers Liability Insurance to a limit of £10,000,000 Public Liability Insurance to a limit of £5,000,000 arranged through Aon Risk Services Ltd, Group Focus, Insurance Brokers. |
